September 26-30

Our classroom was taken over by some Doggies this morning!

Miss Chantal was in our room for a little while this morning and she transformed most of our 4's class into some super cute little puppy dogs! Some Dogs were filling up their food dishes with some puppy chow, and the others were spending some time in their dog house and taking turns walking each other with some yarn. They had a blast, and looked super cute. They were very excited to be Dogs since the letter of the week is Dd!

Thursday we took a bunch of Popsicle sticks and we made our very own boxes. The kids had fun coloring and decorating their sticks and then they all followed the directions on how to glue them together very well! A few of the kids did not want to make up their box (or were not here on Thursday), so their Popsicle sticks are in a baggy in their cubbies in the classroom :)

Since the beginning of the year we have been reading the book, "How Full Is You Bucket? For Kids"by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer

The Kids have really gotten into the idea that everyone has and invisible bucket above their heads and your actions and words can either help to fill a friends bucket or dip a friends bucket. They have been letting each other know when their bucket is getting empty and when friends do things to help fill their buckets! It has been fun to watch them really start to understand how their actions can impact their friends and seeing how they try to keep their friends buckets full! We set up our own Bucket Station in our classroom. Everyone has a bucket with their name on it and we have a basket full of the little pom-pom balls, which are our "drops" of water for our buckets. The kids have been having a blast helping their friends and adding drops to their buckets! You can have your child show you their bucket and ask them about it, they are all very into it.

September 19-23

We have had another great week in the 4's room! All of the kids are doing a great job working on writing their names and the Letter of the week. We have been doing Zoophonics during our Large Group time and they are really catching onto the letter sounds quickly! This week, along with working on our letters, we did some patterning, a fun bean bag toss game that we graphed the results of, and we made delicious fruit smoothies! All of the kids had fun cutting up the ingredients for the smoothie and making guesses as to what it would taste like and even what color it would be once it was all blended together, only a few of the kids actually wanted to taste it though! Afterwards I had the kids help me remember what steps we used and how many ingredients were in the smoothie and we wrote up a recipe, which is hanging on the cupboard in our classroom :)

First Week of School!

This past week has been our first week getting back into the swing of things with schoolwork! Our letter of the week was "Ff" and we began our Box Study. The kids have all been having a blast and doing such a great job during Large and Small group times. I've included a few pictures from this week to let you see them hard at work and having fun :)

Thank you for the boxes, if you have anymore you can bring in, please do!
