We took some time this week to do some fun art projects to decorate our room for Valentines Day!
I painted each child's hand and arm and they pressed it onto the paper, this was their tree trunk and branches. They then took turns using our heart stampers (paper towel rolls squished into the shape of hearts!) to make heart leaves all over their trees. Once they were dry I asked each child what they loved and wrote their answers on their picture. Be sure to check them out by the stairs!
We used watercolors to paint some paper heart doilies. The kids thought that this was a lot of fun! They enjoyed mixing the colors and we talked about how mixing all the colors would create a brownish color, but mixing just one or two would make another color. Look for these hanging in our windows!
We took coffee filters and colored all over them with our markers. I told the kids that after they were done we were going to do some "magic" to them! We took the water spray bottle and got them all wet. Immediately they could see the colors running and mixing together. They were surprised to see some blue and pink where they had used purple, and some yellow where they had only used orange. We talked about how colors combine to make other colors. We celebrated 100 Days of school this week! The kids made up 100 Day fireworks. We used 10 paint colors and did 10 dots of each. We talked about how 10 10's make 100! They were surprised at how fast and easy it was to make 100 dots on their fireworks!
As part of our 100 Day celebration Miss Jackie took the kids out of the room and I hid 100 pennies in our classroom! The kids had a ton of fun trying to find all 100, and they did so pretty quickly! Some of them were hidden pretty tricky!
They were very excited when they found all 100!!
We read a book about all different types of houses and it talked about Teepees, the kids were super excited when I told them we had some teepees down in the Rec Room!
